Our story

Our story began from a study carried out in 1975 by the Division of Community Affairs of the former Community Sub-Rectory of the Federal University of Espírito Santo - UFES, which detected the need to offer daycare services to the dependents of employees and students of this University.
Based on the results obtained, a project was created, implemented in August 1976, to initially serve only classes from two to four years old, operating in a room provided by the Art Departament of the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES). As the demand for vacancies grew significantly, a team was formed to resize the service and redefine objectives through a reassessment of the original project and monitoring its implementation. In this context, people with the position of administrative agent, interns (scholarship holders) from the Arts and Physical Education course were appointed by the central administration to work with the children.
In 1980, Criarte Pre-School began operating in an improvised building that resembled a shed. The care offered to the children continued to be carried out by university employees, scholarship students from different teaching areas and MOBRAL monitors. During this period, 100 children were attended full time, divided into five groups: two groups in the age group of one year, two in the age group of two to four years and one in the age group of five years. The inadequate space and the great demand for places made the then Sub-Rectory of Planning release a specific physical space for the construction of the Preschool.
